After months of planning and development, Astec Aquaculture Business & Science Centre is finally open for business. We have been anticipating this moment for quite some time and excitement has been building steadily. The Astec management team has been on-site for a while now, keeping a close eye on progress, and watching as the fit out of our aqua labs was completed and the seawater filtration system installed. With everything now up and running, we can now confidently say that Astec is the ideal facility for all type of aquaculture based business and research.
Astec aims to be at the heart of a growing industry that will play a pivotal role in the 21st Century economy. Aquaculture, typically defined as all things related to aquatic plants and animals, is a much broader subject than most people realise. Aquaculture research and solutions impact in areas as diverse as medicine, food, sports and sustainable energy. Ours is a growth industry and we believe that Astec has the potential to be at the forefront of its development, future influence and success.
Our flagship centre is strategically positioned on the Northumberland coast. From here we can pump a constant supply of near tropical temperature, flow-through seawater into our private aqua laboratories, which include specialist equipment to supports a broad range of commercial and research activities.
We have deliberately built our Centre so that the facilities are adaptable to the very specific needs of individual clients. Our intention is to create a thriving community of likeminded experts who can share experiences and ideas. At the same time, because each laboratory is private and can be customised for very specific and discrete projects, entrepreneurs and researchers are free to pursue their objectives in confidence.
Our strong links with universities, business and the wider science community mean that there is already a buzz about the potential of Astec and about the enterprises who will base themselves here. To find out more or to arrange a site visit email info@astecaquaculture.com
