We pump a constant supply of warm seawater ashore to our extensive outdoor production space and private indoor laboratories that are equipped to support a wide range of commercial and research activities.
Located on the Northumberland coastline, Astec is only 30 minutes from an international airport, deep sea port, mainline rail station and one of the UK’s top marine science Universities. We are within easy reach of all major European locations for aquaculture and have links with prominent Universities across the UK and Europe.
We re-use seawater that is warmed by a neighbouring power station. The seawater is filtered to 1 micron, UV treated and carbon filtered before being pumped into our fully equipped laboratories.
The purpose-built Astec facility is the ideal location for research, start-up and spin-out ventures and more established aquaculture businesses looking to diversify, relocate or pilot new ideas. The space we provide is private, scalable and fully customisable to suit individual needs.
